Our Prototyping Tools & Capabilities
Reverse Engineering
Sometimes, customers come to us with components or parts that they wish to put into full production. The only problem? They aren’t entirely sure how those components or parts were made in the first place. That’s no problem for our prototyping team. Using our Artec 3D light scanner, we can get any part into CAD and reverse engineer it, allowing us to get a sense of how it was initially assembled before putting it into full production.
CAD Software
For the initial steps of prototype creation, our engineering team utilizes multiple suites of CAD software, including:
- Rhinoceros CAD: Interfaces with our CMM arm for measuring and surface design.
- Solid Edge CAD: Mechanical design software for complex parts, assemblies, and sheet metal design.
- Solidworks CAD: Mechanical design software for parts and assemblies.
- TeZetCAD: TeZetCAD is a tube measurement and bending software that allows us maximum flexibility in the design of any tube and tube assembly. It generates all the tube data for our tube bending equipment.
- Tubing Manipulation Software: We can also import your tube design files to extract the needed data.
Fixturing
At Kooks Industries, we provide all types of prototypes for our customers, including different types of fixtures. We generally recommend using CAD for fixtures, which helps us ensure that the fixtures are consistent and repeatable. We are always happy to talk with you about the software options we can provide to ensure accuracy in our fixturing services. We provide fixturing for clients in all industries around the world.
Industrial Design
As a prototyping manufacturer, we are pleased to offer our knowledge and experience in industrial designs. While industrial prototyping was traditionally done by hand, our engineers use more sophisticated methods, typically exporting software designs to physical and functional samples. Industrial design prototypes make it easy to see how a product or component will operate, allowing a great opportunity for revision or refinement before the product or component is put into full production.
Prototype Tooling
Also known as soft tooling, prototype tooling generally refers to the creation of tooling for plastic injection molding. This allows you to assess your tooling needs without the significant lead time or expense associated with more durable materials, like metal. At Kooks Industries, our engineering team designs tooling for our bending machines and laser cutters. We also provide tooling for end forming on tubes. As a leading prototyping manufacturer, we are always happy to talk more about what these services entail.
3D Printing Technology
Thanks to the development of 3D printing technology, it’s easier than ever for experienced engineers to provide fast, cost-effective prototyping solutions. We are pleased to provide rapid prototyping to our customers around the world, using best-in-class 3D printing technology. Specifically, the printer we use is the Markforged X7, best-in-class technology. We use it on our fixturing and tooling, and also incorporate it into our prototyping services
Find Out More About Our Prototyping Services
At Kooks Industries, we serve clients around the world with a wide range of prototyping needs. Often, these clients come to us because they have a sketch, an idea, a plan, or even a component they need reverse-engineered, allowing them to test out a functional model before beginning a full production run. We are more than happy to accommodate this need.
